Targeting Churches, Schools, and Small Businesses

IF YOU THINK $108,379.60 PER FAMILY IS EXPENSIVE, JUST WAIT UNTIL YOU SEE THE COST TO OUR SCHOOLS, SMALL BUSINESSES, AND CHURCHES.

Over 40 years, an average family in the proposed sewer district would pay $108,379.20 without a USDA grant and $60,344.40 with a maximum 75% USDA grant. Small businesses, schools, and churches would pay far more.

Individual shares of the project’s construction costs are determined per “parcel” and shares of ongoing monthly fees are determined per “residential equivalent unit” (REU). A typical family would be assessed as one parcel and one REU, but many businesses, schools, and churches would be assessed at multiple REUs.

The following table shows total project costs for just some of the properties assessed as multiple parcels or multiple REUs within the sewer district:

Although the potential USDA grant might save families some expense on project costs, a grant would have little benefit for small businesses, schools, and churches. Small businesses, schools, and churches will incur the vast majority of their costs in ongoing monthly fees, not project costs. Unfortunately for these businesses, schools, and churches, a USDA grant would apply only to construction costs, not to ongoing monthly fees.
